My main project throughout my internship with CBER was to create prototypes of a website for a local nonprofit organization that artists the opportunity to apply for grants. This is what my final art-boards looked like in Sketch.
Step 1: Research
Before doing anything else, I took some time to do some preliminary research on similar websites to give me a better idea of how to layout my designs. Researching is such a pivotal step in the design process, and is a step that should never be skipped!
Step 2: Site Map
Creating a Site Map allows you to see how your pages and content will be laid out on your website. I find this step to be extremely helpful, and is something I often reference while I am designing.
Step 3: Design
After research, site maps, sketching out ideas, and finding some good stock photography, it’s time to start designing! This step can take forever, and it definitely took me awhile to get this project to where I wanted it. Ultimately, I think this design fits well with the site’s intended purpose and adds to the information instead of distracting the viewer.
